After the Incident / Same Day : Once we got home, I noticed that my dog was acting sad and docile. He would not leave my side, was following me from room to room, and hanging his head at my feet. So I sat down next to him and began rubbing his belly. This is when I found that he had fresh raw spots and bruises from the groomer on his armpit, knee, and inner thigh. Please see attached photo. I was irate. The grooming staff at this Fort Smith location hurt my dog in some act of cruel restraint, and never informed me of any accidents or wounds upon pickup. They only blamed him incessantly for not being able to receive a bath. My dog had never shown signs of cruel restraint when he came home from the Fayetteville location. My boyfriend and veterinary nurses have also been able to easily give our dog a bath hundreds of times, without ever marring him.
My Experience : I made a 10:30am appointment for my dog on a week day at the Fort Smith location, to get the standard bath package with nails and ears. Then, I called to confirm that his shot records were on file since it was our first time. When we arrived, there were three tall women working in the grooming department. I informed them that my dog was deaf and responded to sign language. Also, I let them know that he tends to chew when nervous and left his indestructable leash with them for their use. All three women were larger than any staff member we had worked with in Fayetteville. I had full confidence that they would be able to gently give my medium-sized dog a bath. Two hours later, they called me complaining that they could not bathe him so I needed to come pick him up. I immediately went to get him because I was concerned about the lengthy amount of time that he had been there with "no bath." When I arrived, I stood there for 10 minutes without being noticed. Once I was noticed, it took another 10 minutes to receive my dog. I was negatively told that they "could not possibly restrain him. He had chewed through two tiny blue leashes, and therefore they could not give him a bath." I asked if they were able to accomplish any of the grooming tasks in the two hours that he had been there. To which they replied, they were able to clip his nails and clean his ears. I had no way to check his ears, but his nails were clipped. I left immediately with no comment, even though I was extremely upset. I wanted to know how they were able to restrain him to clip his nails, but could not give him a bath in a two hour time period. I concluded that they were either lying and / or lazy and just didn't want to finish his appointment. At this time, I decided that I would never go back to the Fort Smith location again.
This store has every thing except a Vet, place to get shots and checkups, very friendly people very helpful.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG AT THIS LOCATION FOR GROOMING. ZERO STARS.
Place is a sad excuse for a pet store . Called the police on me and my dogs . We was near the front door out side in the shade with my three dogs . We travel from town to town looking for work and sometimes we need a break and decided that because this is a pet store it would be good if to be here and cool of. My Sheppard / Pit named Maddie barks at every dog he sees so if that was the problem then I'm sorry but if y'all have a problem with us being there then grow a pair and tell us rather then called the police . Also to the manager who was there ( 12:30 ish whensday morning July 19th ) your rude response was heard and believe me your as pathetic as they come
Couldn't have had a much worse experience, everything I bought was $30-$60 more expensive than online. I got my aquarium home and it was cracked due to how rough they were while loading it, I would not recommend this place at all.
Brandy, was amazing! My dog was well over due for a groom. She was patient allowing several breaks when he became anxious.
For all of these reasons, I am writing this serious complaint in the form of a Google review. Others need to be informed of the hateful grooming staff at this PetSmart location in Fort Smith, AR. I will never return to this store, and I strongly advise others to stay away.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG AT THIS LOCATION FOR GROOMING. The grooming staff is lazy, haphazard, and mistreats animals. I would give the store ZERO STARS, but Google requires at least one star to post.
Back Story : We recently moved to Fort Smith, and our medium-sized dog needed a bath. He is a fully trained, 8-year-old, deaf, rescue dog that knows sign language. We had frequented the Fayetteville location for over a year, where my dog was loved. He received nothing but compliments from the Fayetteville staff. They treated him kindly, and always accomplished all the grooming tasks within the allotted appointment time. Their only comment was that my dog tends to chew when nervous, so the staff would laugh about how he would eat through the tiny blue leashes that they typically use for grooming. Fayetteville has a great grooming department. Therefore, I assumed that the Fort Smith location would be the same. WRONG. (Update - I have since rated the Fayetteville location with a five star review.)
